Lacquerous lets you rent nail polishes

I love nail varnishes and have a rather ridiculous collection of them at home. I like to change my colors regularly- sometimes mauve, sometimes coral, gold- mixing it all up. I’m always excited to try new shades, and rarely finish a bottle, so the Lacquerous model is great for me. The Lacquerous model offers people like me- nail varnish addicts- the chance to try brand new designer nail shades, without taking up too much space in my bathroom.

The site allows you to choose colors and brands that you like- including Chanel, Lancome and more- to your ‘lust list and you can then get three shipped to you as often as you want- all for $18 a month. When you’re bored with your varnishes you simply ship them back in the box – with free post and packaging- and then more get sent out to you.

Sure, you could just buy all the varnishes, but we all know that Chanel polishes COST a lot, and this is a way to try the best shades without the commitment. Think of it as a swap shop, with a fee, but the fee gets you designer nails. All nail bottles are checked for cleanliness on return, so you’ll never get something sticky in the mail, and you can upload and swap your own varnishes.

Pantone Calendar for a pretty new year

Pantone is well known for its dazzling array of color options and cutesy shade selections- seriously, who doesn’t love the names they come up with- and I’m rather taken with the Pantone 2013 Color Your World calendar as not only does it cleverly blend some great shades, but it also gives us a pretty pair of lips to look at for February.

LeParcel- the beauty delivery box for THAT time of the month

Beauty boxes were big business last year, and they show no signs of slowing down. It’s easy to order everything from sneak peeks of new lipsticks to products for curly hair- and they’ve just added a new timely beauty box line to the current offerings. Called Le Parcel, this monthly box is designed to always get to you on time.. as you’ll need it.

Yes, this is tampons and pads BY MAIL. Each box comes with a selection of 30- and you can choose by brand and flow. Additionally you’ll get a bar of chocolate (mm) and a surprise- anything from a cute watch to some hair ties based on previous boxes. The boxes are timed to arrive 5 days before you ‘start’ so there shouldn’t be any mishaps and the packaging is pretty adorable.

They make ordering a simple process, and allow you to cancel ‘if things change’, and you won’t get charged if its within five days of delivery.

New York City Subway Tights

Navigating New York is not an easy task. Sure you could just yellow cab it around, but those Sex and the City days are gone, and it’s all about living with Girls style Dunham realism. These sexy looking NYC subway tights might not feature every stop you’ll need, but at least they’ll add a little razzmatazz to that subway ride. The tights feature the different stations and actually do map out some of the most common stops- for authenticity sake, naturally.

Created by Nylon Journal, the tights are made of microfiber nylon spandex, so they should be pretty longlasting. They also do a bunch of other covetable designs, including the eye exam tights, which I heart big time.

Gun stockings for some extra thigh spice

I would never try and glamorize guns, but I do find myself drawn to these rather stylish look gun stockings. There’s something about the delicate nylon of the tights against the printed gun images that make these strangely alluring.

It’s a combination of delicacy with the suggestion of something fiercer that draws me to these designs, and the fact that they’re wallet friendly helps as well.

Nail Rock BodyRock Glitter Tattoo Review

Temporary body tattoos were one of those things we thought we left in the 90′s, along with gummy bracelets, Rainbow Strike and Milkybars. However, recent years have seen temporary tattoos take on a life of their own- chiefly with the help of Chanel and their rather stunning leg decorations- and steep Chanel like pricetag. NailRock, the creators of the stunning nail decals that we love to play with decided to create a rather more wallet friendly line of temporary body art, and I’ve been [playing with some of them in light of it being the holiday season.

I’ve been trying the Body Rock Glitter pack, which contains three sheets of different gold glitzy tattoos, and as I LOVE stars, I just had to go for them.

Dr Nick Lowe The Secret Is Out Lifting Cream Cleanser Review

With Winter whistling its temperamental tune down the streets of New York, my skin is feeling drier than a Thanksgiving Turkey in December. Chapped lips, red cheeks and skin texture that is verging on the rough makes me a little concerned. Some people like to deal with rough skin by using harsh astringents but I prefer the gentle approach.

Dr Nick Lowe is a world famous dermatologist who specializes in using high end technologies and combining them with skin products to help refine and hydrate the skin, and he’s also medical director of a clinical research company which focuses on skin ageing.

I’m a big fan of cream cleansers, as I love the feeling of cream on m skin and they feel a lot less harsh than gels or scrubs. The Dr Nick Lowe Secret Is Out Lifting Cream Cleanser comes in a light blue bottle- and you get soo much of it, 200 ml to be exact, which is very attractive for the price. The cream itself is pretty light but has a nice non sticky consistency and is easy to rub into the skin. It contains algae to help tighten the skin as it cleans it, and includes Hyaluronic Acid, which adds to the feeling that you’ve somehow hydrated your skin whilst cleaning it, a very pleasant sensation.

Dr. Murad Youthcam will evoke amazement or alarm about your skin

Guest Blogger MT learns about what Dr.Murad might do for his skin.

Measuring the effectiveness of skincare products is never going to be easy and inevitably, you end up with more questions than answers. With so many factors affecting you skin which can change from day to day, it can be really difficult to know if a product is working, let alone if it is the correct product for you. Fortunately, world-renowned dermatologist Howard Murad has made our lives that little bit easier with the introduction of YouthCam.

The latest introduction from Murad  brings an element of technology to their offerings. YouthCam is a state of the art skin analysis system combining a high resolution camera and propriety software developed using Dr Murad’s extensive dermatological experience. The system claims to be able to capture features of your skin indicative of the most common skin concerns and provides quantitative measures of your skin health.

Aided by a Murad skin expert, the process lasts a few minutes before the software scores you in 6 different areas :- Hydration, fine lines & wrinkles, pigmentation, redness, blemishes and pore viability. Once the results are in, you then receive a customised product regimen recommendation to address any areas of concern picked up by the machine.
