Today seems to be the day for weird and wacky beauty news and I’ve just come across a real life snakeskin manicure. Not snakeskin STYLE- but ACTUAL real snakeskin, the type a snake sheds! Seriously, this is a whole new level of crazy. OK, it doesn’t’ hurt the snake at all, but ewwww. The hygiene. The feel. The weird way your nails will look…

How this works is that you get a Snake Skin manicure using Bisosclupture nail gels (basically Shellac/ gel nails) where the SANITIZED (Thank god) snake skin is embedded as one of the gel layers, and the finish is smooth and glossy. It should last around 2 weeks and they say there are 170 odd colour combinations- well no snake is the same right?

This was apparently big in New York and we now can have this done on London at the Chelsea Hand and Foot Spa.

Prices are pretty high- £20 per fingernail and £35 per toenail, with a massive discount for a full set (£160 hands, £150 feet).

I think I might have to sit this trend out- how about you?

Matalan isn’t always on the top of everuon’s fashion radar, but they really deserve a lot more attention. May I draw your eyes to their dazzling Autumn Winter 2012 selection of shoe styles? They’ve interpreted design that have been popular on the catwalk (and every Winter to offer a line of well priced hugely covetable footwear that will have your mouth watering- OK, mine I admit it, a true shoe crazy girl.

Their collection is really versatile; you have studded trainers, patent ankle boots and skyscraper heels. Colour palettes are black, nude, gold and red and very glam looking and they’ve even incorporated velvet into some shoes which is unusual- look at those red velvet grandpa loafers- amazing!

I think the pink sole is a really quirky way to make brogues more interesting, and the flash of colour is so cute.

We all know that it’s nice to keep you lady garden in shape, but have you ever thought about covering it with pink fluffy fox fur? No, me neither.

To be honest, I feel pretty brave even having a landing strip and have yet to go to Hollywood, so the idea of this is a little out there for me. Yes, I have tried Vajazzling, but that’s not quite the same thing. The Completely Bare salon in New York is offering some speciality waxing styles called The Foxy Bikini Wax, Merkin Bikini, and The Carnivale Bikini Wax.  What does having this involve?

Well, the Foxy Bikini Wax involves a laser hair treatment or a bikini wax. The fox fur is then applied and will last around 3 days for the high price of $140. The Carnivale Wax includes feathers whilst the merkin.. well you know what a merkin is right?

Novelty does sell, and the pink fur/feathers are striking, but I’m not sure I would go here- would you? I can just imagine what my boyfriend would say if I revealed this.. but then again, he might kinda like it. Decisions, decisions…

Rachel Gilbert is a brand that has just got onto my radar and I couldn’t be happier. The designer hails from Australia and her collection comprises of floaty shirts, pleated skirts and stunning embellished dresses.

It’s her foreign roots that makes this Autumn Winter Collection quite astounding to Brits, as she makes no allowances for the climate with her pastel hued collection that sparkles under the light with intricate beading and adornments on every available area. I love her collection- the floaty skirts and tops are incredibly wearable and the colour palette makes them look so light and airy.

When it comes to evening dresses we’re talking serious glamour, and Rachel Gilbert has this is spades, creating dresses that flatter a woman’s shape and are very red carpet worthy.

The colour palette ranges from fresh teal to pale pink, and her range includes wearable floaty day skirts and tops as well as embellished evening gown and flippy dresses that would fit right in to the upcoming Great Gatsby trend that will hit our shores soon.

Prices start at £400 and will be available at Harrods from July 2012.

Makeup bags make me a certain type of happy as I know within their confines lies a bevy of interesting beauty. Whether it’s my makeup bag, a friends, a celebs, they all make me super excited as I love delving through them, and get a real rush out of exploring other people’s beauty products. These Pamela Barsky makeup bags are stunning- a great size and the quirky slogans on them make me laugh out loud. Now to pick a fave…

I’m a huge fan of metallic nail varnishes as I love how they catch the light and make fingers super reflective- and they’re sooo much easier to remove than glitter varnishes.

To be a true metallic shade you need to really catch the light- think tinfoil for the nails- and I’m happy to say this new collection fits this remit well. They don’t have an ultra shine, as they have more of a chrome finish, but I like how this gives the nails a more subtle look, rather than a in your face mirror finish.

It’s unusual to have a collection like this out in summer, but I think that makes it extra special, as they will stand out amongst the glitter and neons as something more refined.

Darling is a brand that likes to give back to its customers, and they’ve created a range of beautiful bags and purses that will have your mouth watering.

This is the second season they have EVER created bags and I have to say I’m impressed. They have mixed soft leather with patent to create an array fo designs, from slouchy handbags and large totes, to cutesy clutch bags and embroidered satchels. They have a really cute array of coin purses and prices are very reasonable, from £30 and up for some really high quality stuff.

Created in 2008, Darling keeps getting better, and their bag line is just a small exciting sign of things to come. Nadia Moraes is the founder and designer and  the designs all have a slightly retro feel to them, from small details such as the pretty lining or the cute way that clasps are aligned. The tone for the brand is ‘English Vintage’ and this has been captured with class. Let me know what pieces are your favourites!
