Nine delightful New York Nail Art Designs
Nail art is a passion of mine, but due to lack of time, my digits have been looking decidedly simple hued. In order to rejuvenate my love of the genre- or potentially, just waste time online- I have curated an amazing display of New York nail art.
It is my current favorite city after all, so I need to try and get my USA pride on. Some of these are jawdropping, but a few suggest that I might just be able to recreate them myself.. when I next have a free moment. I do adore the one featured above however, the delectable NYC Landmark nail art from DeviantArt.

Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treament
My hands have been pretty chapped lately, nails peeling, and icky ripped up skin teasing the edges of my cuticles. In part this is because I am a nervous finger chewer- yes, I KNOW- but I do also feel that the random weather is a little too blame. The insane New York aircon is also a little too blame, but considering my finger stubs were becoming nubs, I needed to take action pronto. I carry a hand cream with me at all times, but I felt I needed something more intensive. I also changed my diet, adding in some Biotin and daily Folic Acid supplements. No, I’m not preggers, these are just great nourishing skin replenishing vitamins.
Next, the Lady Soma Skin and Nail Treatment. It’s paraben free and made with cocoa butter and shea butter. What I think really makes the difference though is the inclusion of kokum butter. Yes, I had to google it, but basically it’s isan extract from an Indian tree, and has amazing emollient properties.

International Beauty Show New York 2013

The International Beauty Show is an enormous annual event in New York. It features exhibition halls full of sparkling powders, wheezing hairdryers blowing out steam, and high cheery calls of dah-ling and bah-by! Students clutching purses full of twenties wandered the halls, slender feet encased in Uggs, and processed hair teased high.
Vendors attempt to lure them with giveaways, and heavily discounted products. They also had exciting new cosmetic lines to show.
The New York International Beauty Show is a great time to assess what the big beauty trends for the next year will be, and there was a lot to take in. I’m going to showcase some of the cool stuff on offer, and give you a nice little teaser for the months to come.
These Cobra Hairdressing shears were [pretty stunning. Love how they come with different handle designs.
Bright shades remain popular. Thick, heavy pigments were being sold by lots of brands.
This is a pretty cool look, a unique ponytail catcher that gives you that Xena Warrior Princess Look.
Just your average cool body art tutorial…

Done In 60 Minutes: DIY Nail art designs in under an hour
Pulling off an elegant nail job requires skill, dexterity, patience the size of the Pacific Ocean, and most important of all, time. Whether you’re going to attend an exclusive party or just hang out with some friends in a club on a Saturday, being able to do your nails quickly will save you money- and stress! Why pay a salon when you can create cool looks in the comfort o your own home (and watch Homeland whilst doing so?)
Regardless of the nail art you want to apply, whether French tips, statement nails, or animal prints, the ability to do them quickly comes in handy especially during unexpected parties or nail accidents that require a retouch or a total makeover. If you are looking for nail art ideas you can do it in 60 minutes or less, check out these nail job tips to aid you along the way:
1. Herringbone Nail Art
A stitching technique usually found in twill fabrics can be your nail buddy in case you need to retouch your nails in an hour or less. After painting all your nails with your selected base nail polish, take out some nail strips from your French tip kit and paint them with different colours but from the same colour palette, e.g. using the same kind of finish but with different hues such as matte or candy colours. After applying polish in nail strips, carefully stick them in one of your nails, preferably the middle or ring finger, the way herringbone stitches are made. These should form diagonal L’s when done correctly. Using a pair of nail clippers, remove the protruding tips and with a cutter, carefully cut the excess strips to the shape of your nails.

Nailympics 2013 – The Rome Nail Art Olympics

Over and over I have stressed the idea that nail art is an ART. It involves skill, time, dedication and creativity and the Nailympics 2013 celebrates the diversity of this. Artists from around the world gathered in Rome to create breathtaking displays of design on nails.
This is a serious competition, there is a big judging panel and each category has its own sets of rules, from creativity elements to options such as ‘Micro art or “Flat art” must not represent more than 20% of the total artwork. It is suppose to be 3 Dimensional artwork.’

Lacquerous lets you rent nail polishes
I love nail varnishes and have a rather ridiculous collection of them at home. I like to change my colors regularly- sometimes mauve, sometimes coral, gold- mixing it all up. I’m always excited to try new shades, and rarely finish a bottle, so the Lacquerous model is great for me. The Lacquerous model offers people like me- nail varnish addicts- the chance to try brand new designer nail shades, without taking up too much space in my bathroom.
The site allows you to choose colors and brands that you like- including Chanel, Lancome and more- to your ‘lust list and you can then get three shipped to you as often as you want- all for $18 a month. When you’re bored with your varnishes you simply ship them back in the box – with free post and packaging- and then more get sent out to you.
Sure, you could just buy all the varnishes, but we all know that Chanel polishes COST a lot, and this is a way to try the best shades without the commitment. Think of it as a swap shop, with a fee, but the fee gets you designer nails. All nail bottles are checked for cleanliness on return, so you’ll never get something sticky in the mail, and you can upload and swap your own varnishes.

Nails Inc Bling It On Leather & Skulls collection
Nails Inc is a Nails Inc, Nails Inc Leather and Skulls favorite brand on Addicted to Beauty as we love their long lasting polishes, cool shade selection and adorably cute names they come up with. Their latest launch is highly covetable and brings an earthy glamour to the fingertips. Titled Nails Inc Bling It On Leather and Skulls, the kit comprises of a leather effect black nail varnish with skull nail decals that you affix atop the varnish for nail art results that look like they should be in an Alexander McQueen runway show.
The black leather effect polish changes from glossy to a leather look texture when it dries and even features a leather cap (totally unnecessary, but still kinda cool). I think it looks pretty striking and this is the first time the idea of leather effect nails have really been pushed bu beauty brands.
