Beauty Bloggers Collaborate for Makeup inspired by music

I know Christmas has come and gone and I admit my bad bloggery-ness, getting way to excited with presents and forgetting about updating the blog. Sorry!

In remorse I share with you some Christmas goodness, a collaboration of beauty bloggers who teamed up to create makeup looks inspired by Christmas songs. Woop! I think what they did was pretty cool, so happy to share it with you, even a *month* (blush) late.

Here are the list of the songs and artists:

1. GlitterGirlC – When you wish upon a star
2. Makeup Frenzy – Rocking around the Christmas tree
3. Bold Creations – Santa Claus is coming to town
4. Nijigasumi – Jingle bell rock
5. Tal Peleg (me! ) – Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
5. Katie Alves – Frosty the snowman
6. Ravenice Make Up – Winter wonderland

Check out the rest of these here.

Karmin G3 Salon Pro Hair Straightener REVIEW

Regular readers of this blog will know that I’m quite the hair straightener addict and the my beloved GHD‘s are never far away. Can Karmin tempt me to their brand with the promises of  tourmaline ceramic smoothing plates and a pretty design? I had to try it to know for myself…

The Karmin G3 Salon Pro Hair Straightener came in a lovely box, a smart shape with a snap closure and the content displayed well. In side lay a carry-case/ combo heat mat (that Detached) which  was black with a light white floral overlay, subtle, but not extreme. The straightener came with  two type of lug fittings as well to make it easy to travel with which was a very sweet addition. There was also a  3 years manufacturers warranty include, which never hurts!

I also really liked the 3- metre carry cord as that’s very helpful when you live in plug socket hell. The pink color was also an extra bonus, as it’s bright and fun, and it’s nice to have a pop of color in the morning.

Nach Bijoux Porcelain pooches are dog-lightful jewelry

I introduced you to Nach Bijoux not to long ago, an adorable brand that showcases smart, well designed porcelain pretty things. Think carefully crafted zebras, lions with chain manes and hand-painted pretty designs. I’m now blissing out over all their dog designs and find their labrador and pug rings woof-tacular (sorry).

The designs combine porcelain with a number of other cool materials including leather, rope, feathers and brass. I think the designs are awesome, and love the huge range of dogs, they have everything from german shepherd to labradors to the cutest little pugs ever. Yes, I am a dog person, you have a problem with that?

Get them from Nach Bijoux here.

Novel written as Nail Art

This is pretty surreal to watch. So far, I’ve viewed it twice and I’m still confused. Is the writer insane? A strange artist? Just deluded? Who knows. I think this is comedy.. but I’ not laughing.

And where is the fricking nail art? C’mon!

Gotham City bracelet for Batman Groupies

Show your affiliation to New York City with the Gotham City Bracelet. It’s a collaboration between DC Comics and Noir Jewelry, and the gunmetal version (also available in Rhodium and 18 karat cold) perfectly embodies the gritty underbelly and fascinating towers of the world that Batman inhabits. A someone who likes to consider NYC my spiritual home and DC Comics my virtual abode, this bracelet would make the perfect life accompaniment and is pretty gorgeous to boot. I’m hoping Santa might grace me with this under the tree.. but which color to choose. So many hard choices….

$310 from Noir Jewelry

SmellBent Classic Perfume Characters are oh so cute

I’ve talked before about how exciting the SmellBent perfume studios are. Think their Walk of Shame scent.  They company has a real sense of flair and have a very unusual take on everyday perfume scents, rejecting tropes of vanilla and “girly” for something that’s far more striking and surprising.

I’m talking scents that represent the smell of “aging paperbacks” and the entertaining “Hungry Hungry Hippies” which smells like “pot brownies.” Yes, really. Or not. I haven’t tried that one yet. But I do like that they are playing with different notes and aren’t concerned with being mainstream. Theer’s nothing like a perfume company that can make you laugh AND make you smell god, and for those basic reasons they have a lifelong fan.

Vacuum Hairdryer solves age old problem

Hairdrying makes your hair soft, volumized and dry. But it can lead to shedding, flyaways, broken strands and piles of broken pieces sticking to the carpet. Sadly, this is pretty much unavoidable. Well, to an extent. The vacuum hairdryer won’t solve breaking, but will help you keep your apartment free from piles of lint.

The Vacuum Dryer is a concept gadget (read: Can’t buy yet) that is incredibly smart. It’s a simple idea that makes you wonder why it hasn’t been made yet/ One side of the hairdryer “dries” the other vacuums up the flyaways and broken hair. Both utilize a nozzle, and hot air, and it seems pretty self explanatory that you could blow or suck fromt he same device.

Designer Jeong Shin Yoon created a mock up, taking into account the grill needed to capture hair and how the air flow system would work. Sign me up!

Nach Bijoux Zebra-licious hedgehog, lion and horse rings

Anyone who knows me knows that I have something of a ring fetish. You could go so far as to call it an obsession. Shiny things, bling things, anything that makes my hands spark up a little and gives me smiles inside are just awesome. I’ve just discovered a brand new ring brand (well, new to me) that’s making all my ring fantasies come true.

I’m currently crazy about these Nach Bijoux designs, as the stuff they are creating combines beauty, style and uniqueness. I have never seen anything quite like their work, and I can’t get enough of what they are doing here. I like that they are taking a design that could be seen as cheesy or stupid and giving it elegance, class and uber cuteness.

I mean how often would you think, giant lion on my finger with chain mane and actually like it? However, in this case it blows you away. The rings are custom made and created with porcelain, and the finish on the designs is gorgeous, serious hand crated quality.
I love that they are so playful with the animal kingdom, as so many exist that truly make me warm and gooey inside.

Guerlain Crazy Paris Collection Christmas 2013

I adore Guerlain and their Christmas 2013 collection does not disappoint. A beautiful mix of racy neons, glistening iridescent powder sand a Crazy Paris theme for true Parisian elegance, this collection ticks all the right boxes.

The collection combines limited edition loveliness with eye palettes that pop and a range of hot lip shades that they call “insolent, exuberant and  elegant” and I think are just divine.

I could talk you through shade by shade all the elements of the collection, but this is one case where justice is far better served by simply gaze in lust at all the products rather than needing the full rundown. Enjoy!

Is the ScanZ skin sensor the new acne breakthrough?

The big issues around acne is how long will it take for that dreaded bump to vanish. 5 minutes, 5 days, 5 weeks? Numerous products exist to help vanish the spot and whether you’re playing with Proactiv or the Zeno, you know you want the same result. Blemish be gone. ScanZ aims to do this, kinda. Less about the destruction of the pimple, more about the how and the why. ScanZ is a skin scanning sensor with integrated iPhone app that promises to answer your burning acne skin questions.

Which are (according to them)

1. When will it go away?
2. What should I do to make it go away faster?
3. If I don’t have a pimple, will I break out?

Does this sound a little gimmicky to be true? Yes, maybe, but the company have sold investors on the premise, to the tune of 8 million dollars and if it works it could be awesome.

You scan your face with the sensor and then the app “calculates” the answer and give you advice. It doesn’t say it will clear your skin, just give you data on what to do about it.

Cost wise, it might be around $250 which is a LOT for something that just tells you what to do, but if the cost comes down this might be something really innovative in the skin prediction sphere.
